For those seeking the best combination of power and efficiency, it’s the obvious choice. It isn’t much more efficient than the 100-horsepower engine, or even the 1.1-litre, but it has low emissions to keep company car tax bills down and it’s no less efficient despite its higher power output. That said, every other engine in the range is very economical – even the ST hot hatch version’s 1.5-litre holds its own when compared with similarly powerful alternatives.
